From the author : Having been a high school art teacher for many years, time and again I saw people who had lost their love of markmaking. Elementary school kids - they draw with freedom, they love to make marks with an un-self-conscious joy. By high school, most people have begun to associate art with a fear of failure, of a need for perfection (which nobody can achieve), and a sense of intimidation. My sole goal with this book is to help people find joy in mark-making again. This book is not intended for academics, nor for people already well-versed in drawing techniques and confident in their drawing skills. This book isn't really even tips and techniques for drawing skills - there are already many amazing books out there which cover that. What I wanted to share here are tips and techniques for *how to let go of fear or self-consciousness and begin to enjoy drawing.* Draw. Have fun. Why not
