The fourteen essays and short stories in this eclectic collection were written for the author's own amusement. When his family and friends expressed their enjoyment, he decided to put some of his favorite stories together in book form in the hope that a wider audience might also find something in them to laugh about. The stories are all based on actual events but most have been embroidered with generous stitches of poetic license. The topics reflect the author's interests in family life and his involvements in flying, skiing and restoring old sports cars. And yes, in a few of the stories a little science sneaks in. But - make no mistake - this is light reading intended to entertain the reader. After growing up in the Berkshires of Massachusetts and paying his dues in college, the US Air Force, graduate school and post-doctoral studies, the author settled into a research career in biomedicine. A self-described compulsive writer, he soon began to make time for churning out a string of essays and short stories when he wasn't writing scientific papers. His stories reflect his interests in family life and his involvements in flying, skiing and restoring old sports cars. And yes, in a few of the stories a little science sneaks in. Now retired from science - but with plenty of time for writing - the author lives in Viera, Florida with his wife and dog for nine months of the year. They spend their summers in Canaan, New York and enjoy frequent visits with their four children and six grandchildren. Used Book in Good Condition

How are ratings calculated?
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzes reviews to verify trustworthiness.
