This is the story of Asher Miller Foster and his descendants whose line came down from the immigrant ancestor Reginald Foster who came from Exeter, Devon, England to Ipswich, Essex, Massachusetts in 1638. By 1840 the seventh generation family of Asher Foster had made their way to Illinois. By 1852 he had a well established farm in Addison Township, Du Page County, Illinois. However, he seems to have caught the “gold fever” and leaving the property in the hands of his wife, Hannah, and eldest son, Henry, Asher headed West for the California gold fields – never to return! What happened to the family he left behind
