A Quilter's Journey is a eighty-six thousand word romantic comedy with a strong quilting slant similar in theme to Jennifer Chiaverini's Elm Creek Quilt series. So, what's a top New York City model supposed to do when teeny tiny wrinkles start materializing on her face? Not only that, she is fed up being trussed into a freaking Spanx like a stuffed turkey on a daily basis. Sounds like she needs to get the hell out of Dodge, right? That's exactly what my protagonist, Beth wants to do because she is passionate about changing her profession and wants to become a professional landscape quilt artist. FYI, a landscape quilt is simply a quilt that hangs on the wall, not the bed, depicting a beautiful scene in nature versus a traditional quilt. Although Beth is only twenty-seven years old, supposedly, in the minds of the uneducated, only eighty year-old women with blue hair, wearing support hose, make quilts, right? Well, let me bust that myth and tell you; quilters come in all sizes, all ages, and all colors. Beth is definitely a very talented quilt artist but her parents think she is absolutely bonkers because she wants to give up her lucrative career as a model. When they find out she wants to relocate somewhere "exceptionally beautiful and inspiring," they really get their knickers in a twist. Meanwhile, Beth and her best friend, Leslie, a traditional applique quilt artist, conspire to solve Beth's dilemma while they toss back a glass of wine or two and work on their quilts in Leslie's "dream" studio. Long story short, Beth eventually ends up, with her Cocker Spaniel, Blondie, on what she feels is the most beautiful and inspirational place on the globe, Orcas Island, Washington with the hopes of creating a larger body of work so she can begin teaching and lecturing for quilting guilds and large quilting conventions and eventually write a how-to quilting book. Enter the obligatory knight on a white horse, Jason Burgreen. The owner and builder of the cabin Beth has been lusting over to purchase plus a talented woodworker. One look at him chopping wood shirtless in front of the cabin and the cabin isn't the only thing Beth is lusting over. Sparks fly and the two begin a romance and end up falling in love with one another. As it turns out, Jason's mom, Ann, turns out to be a quilter and she takes Beth under her wing and introduces her at the local quilt guild. When Beth shows one of her designs at "show and tell" the members go nuts over her quilt and she is eventually invited to teach and lecture for the guild. Other opportunities open up for Beth and Jason begins offering a contemporary line of very popular quilter's furniture. The story ends with a humorous proposal and is followed by book two and three in the series.

How are ratings calculated?
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzes reviews to verify trustworthiness.
