Poetry can be understood as meaningful words on canvas. Children can see the world in unique ways with their interpretations of life, happiness, hope, justice, and love. A child poet can bring innocence yet inspire us with unanticipated wisdom to understand the unseen connections and beauty all around us. As Armaan Singh reminds us in his poem: We continue to look outside for knowledge Never to see ourselves True wisdom comes from your soul Not the books on our shelves We try to fly on others wings Not daring to take off on your own The blind men see what most of the seeing can not They face their own soul and then write the plot In this wonderful collection of poems, we are invited to ponder, reflect, and reimagine. But ultimately, we are asked to rethink how communities can regain their commitment and regard for one another and work toward making the world a better place for the upcoming generation. ISBN: 978-1-5462-3500-2 CHAPTER 1 A thought, a whisper, an idea The greatest beauties of life are not only the sea breeze and flowers For there are things that are born into our minds that unleash   mystical powers In the midst of a chaotic world with no place to catch your breath An idea arrives in the silence to take you to a world without   sickness or death Ideas-as petals in a lake are scattered like refugees Found in the sunlight, ocean and breeze We also come across whispers –or the fragments of ideas bygone We can make those whispers whole again and give them a new dawn The one thing that stops ideas like a sheet of ice blocking a tear Is no longer listening and giving in to fear Shutting ourselves out from the ideas that roam No longer embracing and learning from the place we call home Fearing death, sickness and old age Trapping the ideas around us within an ignorant cage When ideas and whispers are combined Like sand forming an island in water, a thought is born in our mind For when a thought is found- a message is spread that will give the   mute a voice to speak Giving sight to the blind and strength to the weak For thoughts, whispers and ideas are like shooting stars They should be embraced as they travel around us close and far For we should seek the thoughts, whispers, ideas and   the silence's sound Now let me share the thoughts, whispers and ideas I have found (Dedicated to my mom and dad) Ideas like petals in a lake are scattered like refugees For they are found in the sunlight, ocean and breeze It does not matter It does not matter if my skin is black or white It does not matter if I am born without sight It does not make a difference if I am from a diverse religion It does not matter that instead of a great eagle I am a humble pigeon It is not important if I believe in another god For I do not care if I seem odd It does not matter if I have unique goals Who should judge? In the world we all have different roles I am different and for that do not exclude me from the population Because remember we are all the Earth's creation We are all unique no matter how normal you may seem We all have our own motives and differing dreams It does not matter if I am not wealthy All I care is that I am alive and healthy It does not matter if someone is disabled It is not fair that they are labeled All that really matters is that you are loving and kind Those simple traits dominate riches, looks, and a large mind We are all created equal no matter what you may say And that fact stands with every passing day (Dedicated to Mr. Frank Mortillaro, principal Northside elementary school) We are all unique no matter how normal you may seem We all have our own motives and differing dreams Begin We continue to look outside for knowledge Never to see ourselves True wisdom comes from your soul Not the books on our shelves We try to fly on other's wings Not daring to take off on your own Not even being grateful for one's flesh, blood, and bone Burning the spirit and mind Tossing kindness away like a watermelon's rind Who is lost in their own intentions like a log in a river Never aware of pain and suffering Tossing away good deeds small and grand Who desires objects -- not a loving soul to hold your hand The blind men see What most of the seeing can not They face their own soul and then write the plot What are we? Look within and then beyond the sea Why is humanity failing to soar? To be the change you want to see in the world – simply begin   behind your own door The blind men see What most of the seeing can not They face their own soul and then write the plot The road What seems like an infinite stretch of land Varying from poor slums to mansions grand The roar of engines carried in the breeze Peppering the landscape are factories, mountains and trees On flat plains are
