When Elle Hawthorne inherits her grandmother's Victorian estate, she doesn't expect to fall through a crack in reality. Trapped in dying Wynmire, Elle bears the Root-marks her grandmother once carried—golden vines spreading across her skin with uncontrollable power. Every faction wants to use her to save or dominate the realm. Her only protection: Kaelren, the failed prince whose corrupted body bears the scars of trying to claim her power. As Elle's marks spread and her humanity dissolves, she must choose: become destiny's weapon, or forge her own path, even if it costs everything. Dark romantic fantasy where Alice in Wonderland meets The Cruel Prince. "Do not sleep on this book!! A Throne in Bloom is not just another romantasy, JK Ross has created this beautiful, whimsical world with absolutely phenomenal world building. And then there's Elle and Kaelren, each of them everything you can want in a FMC and MMC. Let's all take a moment for the comedic relief of Peeble. You definitely get Alice in Wonderland vibes in this book, it's such an atmospheric read, I was hooked from start to finish!" "The world building, the banter, tests, slow burn, and who even knows if it was a HEA!? This book was not like any other fantasy book I have ever read. New terms and creatures that blew my mind. I loved learning about the main characters journeys and even getting to know about the journeys of the side characters. We get to travel through different courts throughout the realm where they gather allies and resources. We learn about how each of these places have one thing in common. J.K. Ross definitely knew what she was doing writing this book. She did an impeccable job. I will continue reading anything she writes." "I was loving this book from the very beginning with a pretty straight forward plot at the start but unique magical garden realm that J.K. Ross made me quite excited to keep reading. The plot and world building grew so well with the book and became more complex and less predictable! The ending of A throne in Bloom was so impressive and detailed, made me love the book even more. It reminded me of how Sarah J Maas does such epic battle endings in her Crescent City series. Pepples is the perfect FMC BFF and I love how this beetle says everything you are thinking as the reader in the book! Other elements of book that I loved was the one bee (horse) moment, fated mates and touch her and die. Overall this book is stellar that is fast paced adventure and an incredible world building and plot. I will be shouting out this book from roof tops that romantasy book lovers should read!" "This book must have one of the most unique and interesting magic systems I've ever read about and I loved learning about and discovering it alongside Elle, our FMC. She was a true fish out of water after being thrown into that magical world and learning that she has magic herself and I liked how realistic her reactions were to everything and it was great to see her grow in this book, she had an amazing character development and after how this book ended I'm excited to see how she grows in the next one. Kaelren was a complicated MMC, he was a real jerk in the beginning but I could understand why and he quickly grew on me, he also had some perfect 'touch her and die' scenes that always make me swoon." "This book feels like someone cracked open a kaleidoscope and said, "here, step inside." The magic system is unlike anything I've read before. Fresh, vibrant, whimsical in a way that makes most fae-centered romantasy worlds feel a little... beige by comparison. Every description was so vivid I could practically see the colors blooming off the page. The part where they are bouncing off mushrooms like a trampoline? I loved it. Even the characters created in this story are entirely unique, it truly is imaginative." J.K. Ross is an avid reader and unapologetic book lover with a deep passion for fantasy worlds and storytelling. When she's not writing, she's chasing wanderlust-having explored over ten countries in recent years, always in search of places that feel plucked from a storybook. Europe, with its fairytale charm, continues to inspire her imagination-especially Ireland, which she swears is a real-life fairy garden. She lives in Arkansas with her husband and two children, where her coworkers include a very professional Goldendoodle named Ranger and a less-than-professional Maine Coon known as Grand Duchess Freya. Together, they make sure every writing session is filled with magic, mayhem, and maybe a bit of mischief.
