The gray wolf (Canis lupus) is also known as the timber wolf. A number of wolf subspecies have also been identified. Once hunted to near extinction and missing from the area since the 1920's, the wolf was reintroduced to Yellowstone National Park in 1995, and it has been thriving there ever since. This story is about one fictional pack of feisty wolves as they battle hunters and other dangers to stay alive during a year in Yellowstone.
