The year 1776 began 258 days after the "shot heard round the world" at the Battle of Lexington and Concord. In those 258 days, significant events unfolded. One of the most notable was the selection of George Washington as the Commander-in-Chief of the newly formed Continental Army. 1776 began on a somber note with the American defeat at the Battle of Quebec on December 31, 1775. However, the year ended on a triumphant high with the decisive victory at the Battle of Trenton on December 26, 1776. When people think of the American Revolution, they often think of 1776 because that was the year the Declaration of Independence was created. There were a tremendous amount of events that transpired during that pivotal year. This is the second book in an eight-part series about the Day-by-Day events that took place during the American Revolution.

How are ratings calculated?
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzes reviews to verify trustworthiness.
