Originally published in 1829 under the superintendence of Simeon DeWitt, Surveyor General of New York, An Atlas of the State of New York by David H. Burr holds a remarkable place in American cartographic history. Engraved by the distinguished firms of Rawdon, Clark & Co. of Albany and Rawdon, Wright & Co. of New York, the atlas comprises individual county maps alongside physical geography and statistical tables, representing one of the most ambitious documentary surveys of any American state at the time of its publication. This facsimile reproduces the first edition, second state of the atlas — a copy in which the Map of the City and County of New York and the Map of New York State bear the date 1832, while all remaining maps retain their original 1829 dates. ExileBooks is pleased to make this rare and historically significant atlas accessible once again in a high-quality print facsimile edition.
