JUNGIANEUM/Yearbook, like every other pro-bono initiative by Jungianeum: Contemporary Initiatives for Analytical Psychology and Neo-Jungian Studies, aims to strengthen society's ability to discuss and address conflicts, and to challenge them effectively in a Jungian psychosocial way. In this spirit, the project resonates with Simone Weil’s call “to make an inventory or a critique of our civilization,” which she described as the effort to illuminate “the deception that has made man a slave to his own creations.” Weil asks: Why has unconsciousness infiltrated methodical thought and action? She warns that retreating into fantasies of a “primitive” existence is merely an evasion born of laziness. Instead, she insists, we must rediscover the original pact between spirit and world—within the very civilization in which we live. But what exactly is JUNGIANEUM/Yearbook? It is a yearbook, of course! Is it also a monograph, an almanack, a journal, and a poetry book? Indeed! JUNGIANEUM/Yearbook reviews the past year through the expansive lens of papers and poetry informed by analytical psychology and neo-Jungian studies. Its uniqueness and importance to the Jungian community lies in the overall impact of the work of the individuals contributing. JUNGIANEUM/Yearbook plays a role in expanding current discussions on Jung, the post-Jungians and contemporary analytical psychology studies, and some of the important issues addressed by them. JUNGIANEUM/Yearbook constitutes a recognition of the generation of post-Jungians who shaped analytical psychology and constitutes recognition of the third generation - the neo-Jungians - who are developing analytical psychology into the 21st century. JUNGIANEUM/Yearbook is one of many initiatives by Jungianeum: Contemporary Initiatives for Analytical Psychology and Neo-Jungian Studies.
