From intense hues to pastel tones, AMACO Underglaze Chalk Crayons can be used as is, sharpened for fine detail, or dissolved in water for painting or spraying. Chalk Crayon sticks measure 2-3/4" x 7/16". Use water to help with shading and blending once the chalk has been laid down on the surface, or to create a watercolor effect. To reduce smudging while applying liquid ceramic pottery glaze over chalk work, mix 1 tablespoon of gum solution with 1 pint of water and spray on work before applying the liquid glaze. Maximum firing temperature is Cone 05 for Lilac; Cone 5 for Blue-Green, Dark Brown, Light Brown, Medium Green, and Yellow-Green; and Cone 10 for Gray and Medium Blue.
