When I was a young warthog, I had tireless energy. My mother was an expert in having my brother and me put our energies towards productive activities. But my grandmother? She was THE expert. Her tools? Anything with which we could create art. She would sit us down and challenge us to create worlds of new characters through imaginative prompts and games. Heading into adolescence and adulthood, I would still return to these games and prompts whenever I felt the artist’s itch but had no idea how to scratch it. It is my pleasure to bring these prompts and games to the public. INSTRUCTIONS This isn’t a journal about what should be but what could be. The prompts are just that—prompts. Even when you see the word "draw," don't limit yourself to a pencil. Use a variety of mediums ; crayons, paint, magazine clippings, dirt and glue, cut the pages, WHATEVER! Experiment and HAVE FUN! If a prompt just doesn't speak to you, switch it up! Instead of "fighting," the characters can be "skating." Instead of an animal, it could be an insect. If you read the prompt and something entirely different comes to mind, create it! There are blank pages at the back for you to use in a few activities or at your leisure. Each page is single-sided so that your creations have a lesser chance of bleeding into each other. Now... GO!
