The field of athletic training has been around for over 100 years yet little outside of the athletic world know much about it. Observers of sporting events see what athletic trainers do on with injured athletes on the field but they know little about what an athletic trainer actually does behind the scenes. Additionally, those individuals entering into the field, like the general public, only see the glamorous side of sports and know little about the truth about the profession. This book is the first of its kind to reflect on the profession of athletic training from a 35 year veteran athletic trainers’ perspective. The author, Dr. Robert Bradley has a unique perspective on the field of athletic training. During his career he saw athletic training from a vast number of roles that include: student, graduate assistant, clinical athletic trainer, to professor. His experiences include: college athletics, high school athletics, industrial, and educational. AT the end of the bench is a reflection on the world of athletics from an athletic trainers’ perspective and a letter full of recommendations for those new to or are considering the field of athletic training. It is a book meant to show the highs and lows, the benefits and struggles of athletic trainers as seen through the eyes of someone who has been there, and done that.
