FROM THE CREATORS OF THE AWARD-WINNING MANGA COOKBOOK! Inspired by the Lewis Carroll classic, this original adaptation of Alice s Adventures in Wonderland explores the world of sweet and delicious desserts made from Japanese green tea (matcha). Featuring the colorful artwork of Mosoko Miyatsuki, the new adventure follows an adorable Alice as she winds her way through the forest in a quest for the perfect cup of matcha. Along the way, she encounters many of the beloved characters from the original tale, including the Mad Hatter, the White Rabbit, the Cheshire Cat, and, of course, the Queen of Hearts all of whom offer Alice a matcha treat or two. Alice in Matchaland is not just pure fairy tale, though. Sprinkled throughout the pages are more than a dozen real recipes for the matcha-flavored sweets that Alice enjoys, including The Mad Hatter's Out-to-Lunch Latte, The Dormouse's Begins-with-Mmm Pudding, The Jabberwock's Wiggly Wobbly Gelatin, The Queen of Hearts' Un-Birthday Cake, and more. 96 pages. Hardcover. Measures 5.25 x 5.25 inches, making it ideal for stocking stuffers and holiday gift-giving. The book is one of the most creative retellings of Carroll's story that I have ever read. -- Trine Andersen - Nerdy Treats This little book is a unique hybrid between an illustrated storybook and a cookbook. Alice meets the familiar Wonderland and Looking Glass characters, each of whom present to her a dessert or drink made with matcha. Recipes range from the simple essentials, like matcha tea, to the more complicated, like chiffon cake. The illustrations are cute anime re-imaginings of Lewis Carroll's creations the dormouse, for instance, is a toddler with a tail, wearing a hood with mouse ears. The final products of the recipes are also illustrated, not photographed. -- Jasmine Hughes - It's All Geek to Me! MOSOKO MIYATSUKI has been contributing her enchanting illustrations to Manga University projects for more than a dozen years. She made her debut with the cover art for the Kanji de Manga Special Box Set (now a collector's item) in 2005. A year later, working under the pen name Saori Takarai, she released Manga Moods: 40 Faces + 80 Phrases, a book that quickly became on of Manga University's all-time best-sellers, and led to a sequel, Manga Moods Too. Her work has appeared in several Japanese publications, and she was the subject of an extended segment on Japan's NHK television.
