Joy Harjo is a poet, musician, and author, and was the first Native American United States Poet Laureate. She has written fifteen books of poetry and produced four CDs. A native of Tulsa, Oklahoma, she is a member of the Muskogee Creek Nation. Harjo lives in Honolulu and teaches writing at the University of New Mexico. CAROL MILLER was born in Germany and later moved to Chicago. She received a Bachelor of Arts from Northwestern University, followed by a Juris Doctor from Tulane University Law School in New Orleans.
