This book follows the Tomlin family from Great Britain to the east coast of the American colonies and onward to Illinois. Matthew was the first Tomlin immigrant to settle in Mullica Hill, New Jersey in the 1600s. The title of this book refers to William I, a patriot who fought in the American Revolution in the militia from Gloucester County, New Jersey. Through many generations, the chronicle follows Tomlin men including the journey of Almarin, who participated in the American expansion into the western frontier. Almarin brought his family from Cape May County, New Jersey to Walnut Grove at Pleasant Plains, Sangamon County, Illinois. The story continues with the families of Edwin, then Jacob, and his son Lawrence.This is a true American story of a pioneering and patriotic family. Each generation’s story is entwined with the history of a fledgling country.
