This book narrates the ancient history of Korea from her birth as GoJoSeon in 2,333 BCE thru BuYeo, SamHan, GoGuRyeo, BaekJe, GaYa, until the fall of BalHae in 926 with a few more years of lingering revival struggles. Although Korean history continues further with the unified kingdoms of SilLa, GoRyeo, and JoSeon, they are not covered in this book. Due to her geographical setting, Korean history cannot be told without touching on the intense interactions, of conflicts or coalition, with China and Japan. In that respect, the original texts, in Chinese script with few exceptions, of relevant historical records of Korea, China, and Japan have been 'Revisited' to construct the flow of this book. Almost every line of the main body text of the book has been supported by the original texts of the historical records incorporated as extensive footnotes, with additional discussion by the author and reference to other authors as well. Much attention has been paid to specifically locate some important historical sites of cities, rivers, and mountains, especially in connection with China. Now that both Korean and Japanese records hide the crucial part of their ancient relation, the chasm has been filled with the author's reconstruction highly inspired by earlier pioneering scholars of Japan, US, and Korea. To those readers interested in the history of the Far East Asia, this book might provide much intriguing details less heard elsewhere. To some academic readers, the extensive footnotes, constituting almost half the whole volume, might serve as a good quick resource for their initial study. Novice readers are recommended to skip the footnotes in their first reading and to follow the main text wherein the story is told in streamline with exciting enough episodes. The book might serve as an important contribution to the study of the ancient history of Korea and the Far East.
