The lens of Peter Maeck's Aperture captures a rhymed and unrhymed gallery of animated short subjects and tableaux vivants peopled by cold sober sages, ardent idealists, self-crowned royalty, and pretenders to their thrones. By turns mordant, merry, and mischievous, these poems humor saints and shysters, frame show-offs, and coax grins from the camera-shy. "Peter Maeck's surprising, even shocking, poems are part mystery, part modern art, and all imaginative torque. You will be twisted around by this very good work." - DAVID WANCZYK, Editor, New Ohio Review Peter Maeck is a poet, novelist, playwright, and photographer. His narrative poem "Remembrance of Things Present: Making Peace With Dementia" (Shanti Arts 2017) celebrates his father's brave, good-humored experience with Alzheimer's disease. Peter's novel, "Zänker" (Moonshine Cove Publishing), a literary mystery, is now available. Peter's poetry collection, "Aperture" (Shanti Arts 2022), "humors saints and shysters, frames show-offs, and coaxes grins from the camera-shy." Peter served as US State Department American Cultural Specialist in Tanzania and Morocco. He holds a BA in English from Dartmouth College and an MFA in playwriting from Brandeis University.
