Athena was my very silly and loving bulldog (A bulldog/boxer mix). I adopted her when she was 2 and we spent 9 magical years together until she passed away at 11. I have so many amazing stories I wrote a children's book about her 'Athena Finds a Home'. It's about her rescue and adoption story. Well, I unexpectedly wrote three more 'Athena Comes Home', 'Athena's Magical Christmas (Childen's Edition)', and 'Athena's Magical Christmas (Coffee Table Edition)'. It seems I've fallen in love with the graphical book creation process and so I find myself here again 'Athena's 12 Jours de Noël' (12 days of Christmas). And (spoiler alert) coming in 2026 'Athena's Space Adventure'. The song "The Twelve Days of Christmas" is an English Christmas carol that has become a staple of the Christmas season. Its origins are somewhat unclear, but it is believed to have been written in the late 18th century, with the first published version appearing in 1780 in a children's book titled "Mirth Without Mischief." The song is a cumulative carol, meaning that each verse builds on the previous one, and it has been popularized by various arrangements, including those by Frederic Austin in 1909. The song is often interpreted as a memory game or a playful list of gifts, with each gift symbolizing different aspects of Christianity. --Catholic News Agency Most of the gifts through the 7 days are birds. Birds can be elegant and graceful, even symbolizing beauty, purity, peace, and transformation. Most of the remaining gifts are centered upon dancing (leaping) and music. The author, Frederic Austin, treats his love to gifts of peace, beauty and celebration in this classic cumulative song. I've taken these quintessential activities of beauty and celebration and given them a modern humorous twist. My adaptation is a love letter to Athena and the TikTok generation. Enjoy!!! --Mark Peterson
