Volume Two, Number One of the new Atlantis Magazine: In The Courts of Memory. This twice-yearly periodical was the creation of Imperial Russian historians and Romanov specialists Penny Wilson and the late Greg King. It is now edited by Penny Wilson and Janet Ashton, a long-time contributor. There will be guest articles from other Russian and Romanov writers and authors in most issues. As in the original Atlantis (which ran from 1998 to 2005), this continuation focuses strongly on the Russian Imperial Family and their world, but will also contain material related to other events of the era, and will now take additional inspiration from the research interests of Greg King, which were not all Russian. In this issue you can read Penny's fascinating research on the obscure life of Prince Artemy Iskander, a son of the scandalous Nikolai Konstantinovich, and on the "marrying Mdivani" family from Georgia, who, in exile, wed their way into high society across two continents. Janet writes about "the first Nicholas and Alexandra", whose life and family represented the high point of the long connection between Russian and Prussia, between the Hohenzollerns and the Romanovs, inter-marrying, quarrelling, and building palaces and cities. Guest author Katrina Warne tells us about Grand Duchess Elena Pavlovna, who transcended an unhappy marriage to influence Russian politics and society for the better. We interview Frances Welch, author of many books on the last Tsar's family and court, and there are also reviews of Frances's latest book "The Lives and deaths of the princesses of Hesse" and of "Tsars sans empire" by Boris Prossoloff.

How are ratings calculated?
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzes reviews to verify trustworthiness.
