Long ago, behind a thick cloud of thundering smoke, hid a kingdom long thought to be a legend or extinct. The kingdom was ruled by a warrior Queen called ‘Bedyango,’ a rain maker and priestess, who made supplications to her ancestors for health and good fortune. Within the confines of her kingdom was a fierce army likened only to the mythical Amazons. Her people, the Rozwi, had fought off the Portuguese invaders, traded with the far east, and set up a civilization that would baffle historians for centuries. Early explorers called the ruins of her people: the lost golden kingdom of Queen Sheba.
