The boomtown of Bone Dry rises from the cactus and chaparral as fortune hunters swarm to the desert to find riches in a silver strike. Cowboys, soiled doves, freed slaves, farmers, buffalo hunters, lawyers, immigrants, Apaches, prospectors, schoolteachers, men who had fought for the Blue and those who had worn Gray, along with many others flock to the town in a rush for riches. Many came for wealth while others were running away from something. As each person tells the story of their life and how they came to their final resting place in the Bone Dry Cemetery, they weave a tale of how Bone Dry rose from the desert to become a bustling town and how Bone Dry, like its citizens, met its demise. The stories also paint a picture of the battle between Judge Brown’s Enforcers who control the town, and Major Walker’s cowhands who refuse to back down from the judge. The stories unfold, one-by-one, with shootouts, cattle stampedes, bank robberies, tragic river crossings, and chance meetings with legends such as Buffalo Bill and Wild Bill Hickok. Revenge, passion, tragedy, greed, and humor intertwine in the tales spun by the storytellers. There were truly Bad Days in the town of Bone Dry.
