Base Oasis is about me trying to find my way home again, or find a forever home, whichever comes first. A fractional Memoir in Narrative Nonfiction with (40) 5,000-word Essays (in Volume 1), which is emblematic of the current number of places I've lived in my life, thus far! Although not every chapter is a particular essay about each residence. Rather focused on the subject of Mindfulness & wrestling with awareness of 'who, what, where & how' is whatever happening, at whatever moment in time, while trying to navigate some persnickety situation. My goal is to help Young Adults discover their best aspects, to help them find their way in the world, since I didn't always find it easy to do everything without a Father or a Mentor to help me circumnavigate the emotional storm of my youth. And now, as I look for a house to call my home & give me what I want & need the most, altogether with a sense of place. Original photos at the start of each chapter/essay and sprinkled with a few fascinating (illustrated) Footnotes (in Volume 2), together with an Index of 1,000 names. This earnest book of Essays is a candid challenge to stay remindful, in order to find your way home again, thoughtfully appropriate to the spiritually protective prompts of adaptability & compromise. While, the first letter of each chapter/essay spells a peculiar proverb, or literary life-lesson, or some abstract homework you might consider, whenever in the midst of your own messy mishegoss. Because everybody has a sometimes, sad situation & might need a supportive Mentor, to help them find their way, or at least remind them to acknowledge the situation, before they should take the next step to begin their homeward-bound journey, in my apprentice opinion. 'Every day is a journey, and the journey itself is home.' -Matsuo Basho (1644-1694) at goodreads.com Mindfulness is 'a mental state achieved by focusing one's awareness on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one's feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations, used as a therapeutic technique.' -from Google's English Dictionary via Oxford Languages.
