Beetles are all colors of the rainbow. Often they have spots and stripes too. Some can harm plants but others are very good for gardens and farms. If you've ever seen a firefly, you've seen a beetle! Level Pre-1 readers are aimed at children who are starting to read. Basic language, word repetition and short, simple sentences help kids read with confidence. This project has been made possible in part by the Government of Canada. Victoria Hazlehurst was born in 1945 and raised in Cheshire, England. In 1974 she immigrated to Canada and started a family in Port Alberni, British Columbia. Victoria has worked in a retirement facility for a number of years, planning activities for seniors. She loves to ride horses and has a passion for poetry, photography, and children's books. Sarah became an editor after many years of working as a bookseller, columnist and reviewer. She has also taught courses on writing, editing and publishing. Sarah was an editor at Orca Book Publishers for thirteen years before she (semi)-retired to become a freelance editor. She is also the author of a baker's dozen of books for young readers (board book to YA). When she's not reading, writing or editing, Sarah runs around after her three grandchildren, does yoga, (to counteract the effects of running around after small children), walks, draws and meditates.
