These lively and entertaining folk tales from one of Britain's most ancient counties are vividly retold by local storytellers David England and Tina Bilbe. Their origins lost in the oral tradition, these stories from across Berkshire reflect the wisdom (and eccentricities) of the counties and its people. Berkshire has a rich and diverse collection of tales, from stories of battles and heroic deeds to tragic love affairs, and of course the famous legends of Herne the Hunter, Wayland the Smith, and the myths surrounding the Uffingham White Horse. These highly readable tales, illustrated with intricate line drawings, bring alive the landscape of the county’s rolling hills and fertile plains. David England has been a professional storyteller since 1999. He is a member of the Society for Storytelling and Slough Writers and his MA thesis was on the relevance of storytelling to psychotherapy. He has his own website, and lives in Maidenhead. Tina Bilbe is a professional storyteller and has been involved in the storytelling revival since 1986. She is currently on the Society for Storytelling Board of Directors and is editor for their newsletter Storylines . She lives in Reading.
