BETTY is the daughter of Irish immigrants and the second oldest of six children who grew up on a farm in the rural area of Kentucky. Betty falls in love and marries Arvin, who has big city dreams, and follows him to Chicago. While Arvin is realizing his city dreams, Betty is thrust into the world of bootlegging during prohibition, and prostitution during the great depression. As Betty struggles to find her own city dreams, she meets a young boy who will change her life forever. Betty’s story can be read as a metaphor for our own journey through life or what truly makes us happy. Joyce Bennett-Hall lives in Southern California with her husband Shawn and their two dogs, Pablo and Tina. She has two adult children and two grandchildren. Joyce is an author, speaker, life coach, writing coach, counselor and an ordained interfaith minister. Betty, is her third book and her first fiction novella. It is the first book in a trilogy. Joyce's self-help book Deliberate Decisions, A Simple Guide for Real Success, came about from her experiences as a coach, counselor and minister. Joyce co-wrote the book Providence, A Story of Love, Hope and Diversity, a true story about Joyce and her husband Shawn.
