As we walk through life, we all face difficulties, trials, and triumphs. We have choices to make that will determine the outcome not only for ourselves, but also for those around us, including our family and friends. Often, in the Bible, we read of the courage of women in the midst of life’s darkest times. These women chose to listen to God and His plan. They faced danger, hardships, and even death to do what God asked of them to protect their families and their nation. Author Brenda Carroll Jarvis now presents the captivating stories of ten women of the Bible, whose lives continue to influence women today through courage, determination, and faithfulness in God. Today more than ever, we need faithful women of God who are willing to be courageous, faithful, and stand for God and His plan. Today’s battle is as great as in the days when the women in this book stood by faith to accomplish the impossible. Our children, families, churches, communities, and nation need brave women of faith who hear the voice of the Lord, trust the plan of God, and influence others. The power of the ten women presented here shows that we are able to be overcomers as we live each day, trusting the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, Jesus Christ. Review by Danelle Petersen Review Rating: 4 Stars Reviewed by Danelle Petersen for Readers' Favorite Biblical Women of Influence: Portraits of Courage, Determination, and Faithfulness by Brenda Carroll Jarvis brings us a new perspective on famous women in the Bible and their stories of bravery, courage, and kindness. The women include ones such as Noah's wife, his confidante and steadfast advisor, and Deborah the prophetess, who put her own needs aside for the good of others. Brenda hopes to bring readers closer to the Lord and his wonderful teachings. These women played a vital role in shaping future generations yet don't get the recognition they deserve. Brenda hopes to change this by bringing more attention to these women and their stories, and also that we as modern women find inspiration and courage to make a difference just as they did so many centuries ago. Reading about these wonderful women and all they accomplished because of their faith in God was refreshing. I had never given the women of the Bible much thought until reading Biblical Women of Influence. Seeing life through their eyes as Brenda has done was an enlightening experience; imagining how lonely and isolated the woman with the issue of blood must have felt was heart-wrenching. The characters are relatable and the narrative is engaging, making me eager to read about the women's challenges. The verses at the start of each chapter are a lovely reminder of what the chapter entails, making it easy for the reader to know which character is being spoken about. Biblical Women of Influence is for women from all walks of life, whether a stay-at-home wife or a leader in the corporate world. There is something here for everyone. Reviewer: Jeremie Mondejar Online Book Club Review Rating 5 out of 5 Review of Biblical Women of Influence Ten stories about women from the Bible are highlighted in Brenda Carroll Jarvis' book, Biblical Women of Influence . The author selected these women to remind women that a woman can make an impact on society, the family, and especially a child. Let's talk about what is inside this book. Lydia, who supports Paul's mission, is the first story in this book. The woman with blood issues who expressed her faith in Jesus came next. After that, it tells the story of a brave lady who works with her father to rebuild the wall's remains during Nehemiah's time. Plus, Deborah's leadership with Barak makes the story more interesting to read, too. For the next six stories that highlighted the women's strong faith in God, I will let the readers discover them. I like that the author includes the most known women in the Bible, though some of them don't have a name like the sinful woman who kisses Jesus' feet. I was also intrigued to know a woman who helped their father build the wall. If I haven't read this book, I haven't appreciated these women who help their nation accomplish the big task, like Jochebed, Noah's wife, or Lydia, to name a few. The stories can be read by topic, which I also like. The thing that I like least is that the stories aren't arranged from the Old Testament to the New Testament. However, I still rate this book 5 out of 5 stars because of the first-person narrative, which gives the story a fresh look. While reading this book, I feel like I'm present in their time. Though the stories are very familiar, the author has a good writing style to make them more captivating. The conversation scenarios make the story more relatable and engaging. I recommend this book to anyone who likes Bible stories.
