Curtis Coolige Fritz was born in 1925 on a farm in West Penn Township, Pennsylvania, as one of seven children. In 1927, Betty May Mantz was born on an orchard in New Ringgold, Pennsylvania with five siblings. Curtis and Betty married in 1947 after Curtis returned from the military and were married for sixty-two years. They had three children whose families have expanded to include six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Both Curtis and Betty were of German linage with bilingual parents who spoke Pennsylvania Dutch. They grew up in an era of great change. From no electricity, refrigeration, hot running water, or indoor bathrooms. . . . to computers, cell phones, self-driving electric cars, airplanes, and humans living in space. All these things that are now taken for granted by their children would have seemed like science fiction to them when they were growing up. Upon their death, their children found biographies written by both their parents and have collated them to share their linage and their stories. In reading them you will find a bit of history, stories of growing up, humor, and some great wisdom. We, the children of Curtis and Betty, are honored to share their legacy with you.
