He also finished a workbench book for Wildfowl Carving Magazine titled Three Bird Carving Projects: Power Carving Instruction for the Beginner. He was the North American Shorebird Champion in 2008 and the IWCA Shorebird Champion in 2010. Al is also an instructor and judge and the author of WILDFOWL CARVING MAGAZINE'S Half Size Osprey workbench project. Jerry Simchuk has competed regularly at top-level bird carving shows around the country since entering his first competition in 1994. A full-time artist since 2004, Jerry currently lives in Spokane Valley, Washington, with his wife, Jean, where he continues to build his reputation as a wildlife artist, carver, judge, and instructor. Tom Park began woodcarving when he retired in 1997 after 38 years as a teacher and principal. He is a past chair of the board of the Prairie Canada Carvers Association. He frequently offers courses in carving songbirds, shorebirds, and raptors and does multiday workshops in habitat design and construction.
