My favorite aspect of this book is the love that went into it; it's so colorful and practical, providing you with a list of current-day ailments and the herbs that may be able to help with them. The book does a good job of arguing why you might want to choose herbal medicines before prescribed medicines, and they're not generally wrong in suggesting that these provisions are typically safer than pharmaceuticals. The book, in general, offers a rundown of how to utilize certain herbs and stresses the need of using not just the right plant but the right plant part for specific remedies. I really enjoy that the book offers a breakdown of where/when to get, how to store, and what part of the plant to collect for many of the proposed herbs, and even guidelines on growing them when necessary. It also helps you to understand how to compress, infuse, and create oils, syrups, and more. It's a really good one-stop shop for understanding the creation of one's own personal apothecary. I'd recommend it to anyone who's looking to start one of their own. (Rachelle F. on Amazon.com, July 2023) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Beautiful and informative This book is excellent. Not only are the pictures beautiful and so it's lovely to flick through, but the herbs and their healing properties are so interesting and useful. These are also proper Native American herbs, used by the people themselves for their properties, so you know this book is telling the truth. As a person who likes to medicate aches and pains as naturally as possible this book is perfect. A useful home health book or a lovely gift for others, you need to buy this book. (Lesley F. Cook on Amazon.co.uk, July 2023) Jacob Black is a relatively young herbalist who grew up witnessing how others used medicinal plants to successfully treat different illnesses. Having learned from herbal practitioners for over 25 years, particularly his Cherokee grandmother, he knows how to use herbal medicines effectively for himself and his family. In this book, Jacob focuses in detail on the 101 herbs that he believes are the most useful and effective. Aside from the natural healing properties of herbs, he sees using herbal remedies as a sustainable and cost-effective way of maintaining a healthy mind and body. He and his young family have been enjoying the health benefits of plants for many years. That positive experience has encouraged him to educate others as well and help them achieve a healthy life through natural ways, and so this book was written. While he believes that western medicine has its own place for curing diseases, he still prefers herbal treatments for modern ailments and other illnesses as much as possible. When not working, you can find Jacob gardening, reading botany books, and teaching his own children the ways of the Creator.
