It has a weight sealed inside near the hook. The hook adds to the weight so the buoy tends to hold the strobe end upright but the overall position depends on wind and current. Extra weight can be added by the user if so desired. The Strobe is bright white and has an internal sensor that turns the strobe on only in dark condition. The range of the strobe at night is up to 1 mile and with two AA batteries the strobe will function up to a full week.
