When I started this bone dry series, I had the intention I’ve describing the three stages I found myself in when going from my full-blown addiction into a healing, serene sense of recovery. You’ve read about my nasty habits and the pain I put my family through. I’ve shared with you my stages of depression, loneliness, anger, and resentment. I wrote about how my addiction played a major role in the relationships I had with other people. When us sober folks are called upon to share our stories, whether it be at another recovery meeting, sharing our story at a rehabilitation center, speaking with people incarcerated, or even teaching younger students the risks that come along with drug and alcohol abuse, we follow a particular format: What it was like, what happened, and what it is like now. We share the mental, emotional, and spiritual change we experience from following a twelve step program. Often times being absent from whatever your desired poison is, just isn’t enough. So just like when we’re called upon to share our story, I wrote bone dry with the intention of breaking it up into three stages. Volume One being what it was like, Volume Two being what happened, and Volume Three sharing what it is like now. Welcome to the third and final volume.
