When I first thought about writing a book based on my life, I had my doubts that anyone would want to read the book, wondering who was I to write about my life, me, an ordinary woman. But as time went on, the idea grew that perhaps my story just might encourage others to follow their passion from healing to painting to anything that felt like a soul's calling. I now believe that we are all called and for far too many of us that call is drowned out by the static of the doubt of others, or our own self doubt, or the religious beliefs of others that make us feel guilty about standing up for ourselves rather than remaining meek. There are so many authority figures who cross our paths from family to teachers to well meaning friends who tell us why we should play it safe. Too many of us hide and remain "safe." The only problem is that in that safety we may become depressed, angry and frustrated which can come out in many ways. Well, I finally got that my overcoming my own resistances might actually help other people, and so I made the decision to write and publish the book you are reading. If you have ever had that urge from deep within you that got drowned out, if that still small voice has tried to speak to you or if your soul has made its calling felt or heard at any point along the way, only to be drowned out by the din of self or other's doubt, I encourage you to read my book and begin to understand that your particular calling is your destiny and why you are here and to use my book as a spark to light your own fire and follow your dreams. And never let anyone tell you you can't have them or that you'll never accomplish them because I am living proof that if you listen and act, you will realize your dreams. Perhaps the formula could be stated as listen, dream and act. Listen to your inner urgings and inklings. Dream what your life could look like as you take on your new identity and feel how you would feel, look and be if you were living your dream and most importantly, act to move toward that dream. As you will learn from my story, it's not necessarily going to be easy or quick and there may be many detours along the way but if you hold onto your dream, you will find yourself living it as I have.
