Seed Saver Technology
Openings in the bottom section of the metal mesh shroud align with the seed tray, providing birds access to the food. When a squirrel climbs onto the feeder, its weight automatically forces the shroud down, closing access to the seed. Squirrels and some large birds are blocked from accessing the seed but are not harmed in any way.
Negative Grip Tube
Even more, the feeder includes a negative grip tube, which prevents squirrels from grabbing the wire hanger with their hind legs, hanging down alongside the feeder, and defeating the closing mechanism.
Seed Ventilation System
Traditional transparent seed tube designs trap solar energy and block the escape of hot, moist air. The seed ventilation system lets hot and humid air escape through vents at the top of the feeder as fresh air enters the seed ports and openings on the bottom of the seed tube. Birdseed remains fresher and attracts more birds.
