The Buddy book series is written to help kids and their parents become overcomers. The genesis of the Buddy books stemmed from author Scott Mathis's search for ways to help kids and parents become better equipped to overcome the realities of living in a broken world. He and his wife adopted a dog who, along with his brother and sister, had been abused, then dumped in the Southern Arizona desert. Overcoming incredible odds, they somehow survived and were captured by an animal patrol. After adopting the dog, which they named Buddy, and with copious amounts of love, Buddy learned to overcome his abusive, abandoned past and trust. Using the real-life Buddy as the catalyst for the allegorical stories of the adventures of Buddy, the series has captured the hearts of young readers, while also giving practical help in their life journeys. Buddy, Bravery at Vulture Peak , will help kids learn how to overcome bullying, and learn to obey when things don't make natural sense, be a hero despite impossible odds, and overcome discouragement.
