This is a great YA modern fantasy book! Perfect for fans of Harry Potter and The Chronicles of Narnia with a modern twist. You will be hooked from the very beginning. A girl with the power of a dreamer. A relentless evil seeking to reign. Friends that can wield the power of the 7 elements stand by her side. Will their power be enough? Esther Jarsdel was different from the people of her hometown. She knew this but never let it get to her. After all, Elementalists were common in Medei; Dreamers, however, were not. She mainly kept to herself and was happy with her one friend. All that changed when she got her acceptance letter from Ecclesia: Academy of Magic. Shortly thereafter, she learns about her birth parents and a missing brother who she has no memory of. Along with her curatrix (a guardian that often appears as an animal) and with the help of friends she meets along the way, she sets out to look for her brother. Their journey uncovers even more secrets which causes her to question everything she thought was true. This young adult modern fantasy book is perfect for young readers, teenagers, and adults. I’m normally an audiobook girl as I’m on the road a lot, but I’m going to make an exception for the Elementalists Series!! I can see this story as a movie or Netflix series!! " " I’m hooked! I just finished the prologue and a few pages of the first chapter. Even though I have 3 evaluations to type from today, I don’t want to quit reading! Well Done!!! It’s a great balance! " " I am so into this! I know I’ve been slow at reading due to life being insane, but I love this so far and you’ve done a wonderful job! CJ McKay was born in Wichita, KS., and moved to Vinita with her mom at the age of 4 in 2005. Her love for reading and writing started developing while she attended Cowboy Junction Christian School where she won Best Overall with her essay, "What I'm Thankful For." She grew up being told by some in her life that she can't do anything right, but she fought against those words and started writing her 1st book during her junior year of high school. She started out by putting together "profile" pages of each character. Then she wrote out the dialog, after which she started putting the story together. She also spent many hours researching the Latin language. Now, four years later, she's published her 1st book of many. Growing up, McKay's mother bought her many books to help her develop a love for reading, but it truly started growing in the 3rd grade when they came across the Rainbow Fairies Series. She once did a school project on her favorite author, who at the time was, Ellen Miles, who wrote the Puppy Place Series. As McKay grew, you could find her hidden and getting lost in books such as: Boxcar Children, The Chronicles of Narnia, Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Heroes of Olympus, and The Bible. Her favorite authors are: C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien, J.K. Rowling, Ted Dekker, Frank E. Peretii, and Rick Riordan. Ms. McKay loves to laugh and spend time with her loved ones. She also enjoys playing around with her camera, but she spends most of her time writing. She hopes you enjoy her stories as much as she has enjoyed creating them. If there's anything that CJ McKay would want people to learn from her it is... You don't have to let others bring you down. Keep looking to God as you work hard to accomplish your dreams.
