Glenn Vickery is their first cousin. Earl Miller’s wife, Rita, is the sister of Lou and Bill. Earl and Bill Etheridge's mother was a Vickery. A notable sidebar is that all six of the relatives are in at least one Hall of Fame. Glenn Vickery, Earl Miller, and Earl Etheridge, all retired, are Hall of Fame Coaches and Administrators. Glenn and Earl Miller won state championships in Alabama. Glenn won four (4) in football and one (1) in basketball at Mobile Christian and Daphne, Alabama. Earl won ten (10) state championships in baseball at G.W. Long High School in Alabama. Earl’s son, Drew, who replaced him as coach at G.W. Long, has won five (5) state championships in baseball. Another Vickery cousin, Doug, won a state championship in football at Flomaton High School in Alabama. Mike Vickery, Glenn’s son, has been a high school head coach at two schools, with 25 plus years of experience. Earl Etheridge coached for years in Georgia before becoming affiliated with the Georgia State Athletic Association. He is still active in administration. He was recognized by the National High School Athletic Association in 2024 for his administrative work. Just for the record, Lou and Bill Vickery’s background included years as professional baseball players and coaches. Glenn, Earl Miller, and Bill Etheridge played pro baseball as well.
