✅ The Calico Bristlenose Pleco (Ancistrus sp.), also known as the Bushynose or Bushymouth Pleco, is a member of the Loricariidae family of South American suckermouth catfishes ✅ While many suckermouth catfish species have yet to be bred on any major scale in aquariums, the Calico Bristlenose Pleco is being propogated by a few commercial breeders. Its facial area becomes adorned with many bristle-like appendages beginning in sub-adulthood ✅ A generally peaceful and hardy species, the Calico Bristlenose Pleco is an excellent, undemanding candidate for most aquariums. Unlike the widely-seen Common Pleco ✅ This smaller size makes for a much more manageable (and less messy) pleco that can thrive permanently in a well-maintained aquarium as small as 30 to 40 gallons. Male plecos may be somewhat territorial with other males of their species, but disputes can usually be diffused by providing ample territory and hiding places for each fish ✅ All other tankmates will be generally ignored, although it is possible that small shrimp fry might fall prey to the Calico Bristlenose Pleco. However, some large-scale shrimp suppliers breed Calico Bristlenose Plecos in the same pools they use for shrimp breeding ✅ The Calico Bristlenose Pleco is primarily nocturnal, but will often become active during daytime hours once established in an aquarium with plenty of driftwood, rockwork, and other hiding places ✅ t is not known to eat wood heavily like some plecos (Panaque sp., etc.), but it may benefit from some supplementary wood (or bio-film on driftwood) live fish for aquarium live shrimp cherry shrimp exotic freshwater live fish live aquarium fish shrimp live shrimp tank live shrimp freshwater aquarium ghost shrimp live fish live live freshwater fish freshwater shrimp freshwater fish live fish freshwater neocaridina shrimp live live daphnia
The Celestial Pearl Danio is possibly THE nano fish due to its peaceful nature, small size, and remarkably beautiful coloration!
If you're looking to add natural yet arresting beauty to your aquarium, look no further than the Celestial Pearl Danio (Celestichthys margaritatus). These jewel-toned little fish are truly a sight to be seen. Their midnight blue bodies are dotted with shimmering, pearl-colored markings that resemble a starry galaxy, and their fins add a pop of color with their bright red and orange stripes. Their lustrous, iridescent scales remind us of the notorious fish from the children's book 'The Rainbow Fish' (by author Marcus Pfister).
The Celestial Pearl Danio is peaceful and easy to care for, as long as they live in stable water parameters with good water quality. They do best in tanks that have plant, rock, or driftwood that provides them with cover. We sell these fish in a school of 6 because they are known to do best in groups of 6 or more. Celestial Pearl Danios will form schools with each other and with all other types of danios, forming rainbows of motion throughout your aquarium!
Our Celestial Pearl Danios are tank-raised, and we are one of the only suppliers in the United States that offers tank-raised Celestial Pearl Danios. We ship these fish out as juveniles that are less than an inch in size, and therefore do not yet possess the gorgeous coloration that they will have as adults. As young fish, they show some indication of a striped pattern, which eventually transforms into the iridescent dots this fish is known for. So be rest assured, once these fish mature, they will make a dazzling addition to any aquarium!
