This book is documenting the life, labor, leadership and legacy of Rev. Oliver Carlton Johnson, Sr. who was known as an humble servant of God.Rev., Johnson’s Mother, Pearl Johnson, transitioned when he was a young boy (11 years old); at the time, he was the oldest of his siblings that were still at home. He would go out and do odd jobs to take care of his three younger sisters. Eventually, his oldest sister and her husband took in their three younger sisters and raised them. Rev. Johnson soon found himself sleeping under the homes of others to find refuge until one couple allowed him to stay in their home for a period of time. At the age of 16, he was afforded the opportunity to move in and live with his Uncle and Aunt. Rev. Johnson’s aunt encouraged him to finish school. He at the time, worked during the day with his uncle and attended school at night. He finished school, completed Seminary school and went on to be one of the most sought after preacher of all times. He married the love of his life, Faye Marie Bennett in 1957 and to this union five intelligent children were born. They have been blessed with a quiver full of grands and great grands to carry on the Johnson legacy. Rev. Johnson, pastored one of the greatest churches in the Fifth Ward area of Houston, TX.
