Charlotte wears hearing aids and she loves that they help her to hear. Sometimes the classroom can be a noisy place, with so many different distractions and sounds. Charlotte has found that asking for help can be hard, which is why she has practised ways she can ask for help. You can practise with Charlotte, to ask for help when it is difficult to hear. About the Author: Victoria Rose, BApSci (psych), MAudSt, MAudA (CCP), is a Senior Audiologist who has worked in hospitals and hearing clinics for over 10 years. She works with adults and children with hearing loss. She helps her patients to develop communication strategies for hearing in difficult listening environments, like the classroom. The character of Charlotte was inspired by Victoria's young patients, who sometimes need a helping hand to speak up and ask for what they need. The communication strategies employed by Charlotte are useful for everyone, not just children with hearing loss. Self advocacy is a skill which children need to practise, so that they are confident and ready when tricky situations arise. “A great tool for learning the important skill of self-advocacy." Anuja Limaye, Paediatric Audiologist
