IS YOUR DISHWASHER: Leaking? Not draining? Not filling? Not doing *anything*? Stopping in mid-cycle? Buzzing or making grinding or other strange noises? Leaving dishes spotty? *Etching* your dishes? Our dishwasher repair manual can help! Why are some dishwashers so bloomin' sensitive to food left on the dishes, when it seems like others could double as a wood chipper? Why do some dishwashers get dishes so clean, when others leave spots as heavy as a new snowfall? Our dishwasher manual attempts to answer such profound philosophical questions, as well as more acute ones, like: where in the heck is that water on the floor coming from? Common complaints are covered, such as wash quality problems (spotting, filming, etching, etc.), leaks, water fill, water level and drain problems, pump rebuilding, motor, timer, heater and other electrical problems, drying troubles, etc. Covers all major appliance brands commonly available in the US, including Whirlpool / Kenmore, GE, Hotpoint, Maytag, JC Penney, Frigidaire, Westinghouse, Thermador / Waste King, and many others. My thanks to you for a great book, that made the trouble shooting process easy to follow. Over the years, I have worked on and repaired a lot of stuff, but without your book, I would have never tackled the dishwasher. -- Jim Mathews I wrote the Cheap and Easy! appliance repair series for people who are fairly mechanically-minded, but just need a little coaching when it comes to appliances. Can you change the oil or spark plugs in your car? Most appliance repairs are no more difficult than that; diagnose the problem, change the part. A few tips and tricks, when necessary. In the manuals, I *do* inform you of how to diagnose more difficult problems (such as sealed system problems in refrigerators.) In these cases, depending on the diagnosis, I will advise you to call a professional service technician or scrap the machine; at least you will be able to make an informed decision. To my experience, these represent less than five percent of all appliance repairs. Please feel free to E-mail me your questions and comments at demley@appliancerepair.net

How are ratings calculated?
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzes reviews to verify trustworthiness.
