This book explores the concept of color, its origins, properties, and applications across all facets of life. Color is so important that it stands as the fulcrum around which all human activities revolve. Apart from the beauty it adds to our environment, color perception profoundly affects our mood, depending on the hue transmitted and the circumstances in which we find ourselves. Since paint formulation is a key aspect of our surface coating industry, a considerable part of the book is devoted to studying the properties of pigments relevant to paint formulation and use. Apart from serving as a unique text for undergraduate teaching, the book has been written to address the broader interests of professionals in textile dyeing, the mass coloration of polymers, and emerging new technology areas. The use of colorants has its own challenges. Color both pollutes and beautifies our environment. Therefore, its use should be carefully monitored and managed. How to achieve this while keeping us living ‘happily hereafter’ in a safe and secure environment is briefly considered as this unique textbook comes to a close.
