The Tabasco Pepper being from a warm climate needs warmer weather to grow and produce well. The spicy Tabasco peppers which grow to around 2 inches long are initially a pale yellow/green turning to yellow and orange and finally ripening to a fiery red when ready to pick. When ripe they have a unique smoky flavor that makes them stand out from other small chili pepper varieties. These small peppers are no lightweights in the heat department either with a Scoville heat rating ranging from 30,000 to 50,000 - that is a whole lot of heat packed into a tight little package. Tabasco peppers can be used fresh from the garden, or dried and ground into a powder, or they are an excellent pepper for canning and preserving. Chili peppers such as the Tabasco Pepper are an excellent source of Vitamin C contain dietary fiber and provide antioxidants, that is a lot of health benefits packed into that little hot pepper. Place the Tabasco pepper plants 18-24 inches apart in a full sun garden location in soil that is rich in organic matter and well drained.
