She has received the 2014 Texas Society of CPAs Outstanding Accounting Educator Award, the 2012-2013 American Accounting Association Educator of the Year, and the Two-Year College and the 2010 Navarro College's Teaching of Excellence Award. Dr. Scott earned her bachelor's degree from Nazareth College, MBA from Amberton University, a post-graduate accounting degree from Keller Graduate School of Management, and her PhD from Capella University. Prior to joining academics, Dr. Scott had a 25-year accounting career in the automotive industry. She remains a popular speaker in accounting and financial management for vehicle manufacturers and dealer associations.
