About the Artist: Kal Betts was born and raised on Bailey Island in a family of many generations of local lobstermen. After graduating from Mt. Ararat High School in 2002, his studies took him overseas where he earned his dual BA/BFA at Regent's University, London, England. He has been back from "away" since 2008 and works from his home studio on Orr's Island as a graphic designer and illustrator. This book is part of a larger series Kal has in progress which is inspired by his heritage and the charm of this place he feels very fortunate to have always called "home".
