“Competing with Purpose" is a business fable that leverages the experiences of a cash register salesman in the early 1950’s. These experiences are captured in an old, tattered journal and, fast forward to today, become the foundation for a renewed focus and passion at a firm called “Maxion.” Mary Karough Kelly, (CEO of a tech company in the health-care space) is the recipient of this tattered journal, gifted by her grandfather - fondly referred to as “Pap.” As Mary’s company pushes through the challenges of sustaining growth in a highly competitive market, this journal provides key markers that help Mary and her leadership team chart a new course for Maxion. Their efforts align every teammate toward a key end goal – competing with purpose by using the best of their talents to create superior value for their customers. “Competing with Purpose” presents a compelling story that will instill in leaders a renewed passion to include the entire organization in the game of winning. By doing so, all teammates become key supporters to the challenges that exist on the battlefield of business. Role clarity, specific competitive contribution, areas of improvement, learning’s from losses, and victory celebrations combine to create a renewed focus on the customer, on creating competitive advantage, and on the joy of winning.
