En 1986 creó el Institut Gestalt de Barcelona, donde desarrolla su actividad como terapeuta y formador en Constelaciones Familiares, coaching sistémico, terapia Gestalt y PNL. En 1999 invitó a Bert Hellinger a presentar su trabajo sistémico sobre Constelaciones Familiares en el Institut Gestalt de Barcelona, y con el tiempo se ha convertido en uno de los principales exponentes de esta terapia en España y el mundo hispanohablante. Ha publicado numerosos artículos sobre psicoterapia en revistas especializadas y es autor de ¿Dónde están las monedas? (2006), Vivir en el alma (2008) y El buen amor en la pareja (Destino, 2013), todos con un gran éxito de crítica y público. Joan Garriga has a degree in Psychology from the University of Barcelona.
