Each tale of The Hauntings of Kingston is a standalone novel that takes place in the enigmatic city of Kingston, Ontario. The promise of a new life destroys a family. And the curse lives on and on. “Mommy I’m scared." Five-year-old Sarah doesn’t understand why she’s afraid. But she is. Frightening things are going on in their new home, and she’s mixed up. Their new home has a history. A century earlier, a servant girl with dreams of fame and fortune collided with the house’s mistress--a British aristocrat bent on securing her place in proper society. The tension between these women began with small things, builds to prickly pressure and then explodes into raging mayhem, ripping through the entire household. Fury, vengeance, and hatred infuse the very walls of Crawley House. Sarah shouldn’t be afraid. She should be terrified of what is in store for her and her family. As reviewers have said: “Crawley House, a suspenseful and dramatic ghost story with some nice twists.” An enjoyable read for those of you who like ghost stories. The author, Michelle Dorey, incorporated a number of 'twists' into the story line that both keeps the reader in suspense as well as enhancing the final conclusion of the story. I highly recommend reading this book. --Amazon Reviews This book pulled me in right from the start, I love the characters and storyline so much, an look forward to more books by this author. --Amazon Reviews Great story! I really got into this book and loved how the first section tells how the house came to be. The last section told of now and explained many things. I couldn't put the book down as it was a page turner for me. I'm looking forward for the next book by this author. --Amazon Reviews A lifelong resident of Kingston, Michelle has experienced firsthand, eerie events. She's witnessed episodes where the veil between our world and the next has shimmered gossamer thin. These encounters fascinate rather than frighten her. On the other hand, her two pugs Ruby and Sookie freak out enough for the three of them. The Irish part of her heritage, stories of banshees, druids and, yes, leprechauns are what started her down the road of writing about the paranormal. In the summer she dreams about skiing, and in the winter wishes she lived in Cuba. Yes, she's contrary as hell, but never boring. She hopes you enjoy reading her work as much as she enjoys writing it. She is currently practicing her acceptance speech for the Nobel Prize in Literature just in case.
