Young Charles Elliot, future earl of Wiltshire, and Henry Thomas come from two very different circumstances. When an unforeseen event throws them together, they become inseparable. More than inseparable, they are nearly identical in appearance. Now bachelors, the introverted Charles and his outgoing friend Henry discover that a loved one has been murdered. They switch identities in London society to better investigate, putting strict rules in place. The most important rule: Do not form any romantic attachments while in disguise. Charles is met with a dilemma when he is thrown into a peculiar circumstance with Lily Mason, a young lady who is restless in London society. Lily’s sister, Jane, has been working hard to claim what she feels is most important: a title in the form of marriage to Lord Frederick Fletcher. When Henry tests everything Jane has worked so hard to achieve, she will have to choose to either hold fast to the security of her well-crafted plans, or be daring and try something new. 5/5 Stars - For readers who crave clean Regency romance wrapped in mystery and rich emotion from the very first page, Crimson Leaves reads like a candlelit waltz through fog-laced London streets - full of whispered secrets, mistaken identities, and the kind of love that blooms slowly in the unlikeliest places. For readers who love:
Clean historical romance with mystery & heart
Slow-burn, enemies-to-lovers (times two!)
Mistaken identity & multiple POVs Found family, clever banter, and emotional depth Content Warnings (handled gently):
- Alcohol and past emotional abuse
- Brief mention of prostitution
- No language or explicit content LOVE! I cried, smiled, laughed, set the book down to wonder, and re read touching moments and passages. Loved getting to experience a slow and fast burn in one book. I loved the relationship dynamics between the siblings, getting everyone's perspective in First Person, the grief and heart ache of loved ones lost as well as loved ones living that can still cause heartbreak. It was all conveyed beautifully with sweet underlying messages of hope and healing, a touch of mystery, and an entertaining sibling switch with fun twists! 5 Stars.
