The author began this project with two goals: to learn more about her grandfather, Giovanni Cusmano aka Jack Cusman, and to discover if and how he was related to the other Cusmanos in Detroit. Cusmanos: From Terrasini to Detroit traces his family to the middle of the sixteenth century in Terrasini and other nearby villages in Sicily and also links him to most of the Cusmanos who emigrated to Detroit. Volume I, The Cousinbook contains only Giovanni’s direct line and the first cousins of his father. Volume II (forthcoming) will cover the rest of the Detroit Cusmanos, and Volume III (forthcoming) will examine the Sicilian Cusmanos in more depth.. These three volumes will be of interest to anyone researching the genealogy of the surnames Cosimano, Cusmano, Cusumano, Cusimano, and Gusmano.
